SANTORINI BEACHES

Santorini Island is famous for its beaches with colorful sands that come from volcanic rocks on the eastern and southern Santorini Island, Cyclades Islands, Greecesides of the island, as well as the sandy and smooth pebbly beaches on the western and northern sides of the island.

The beaches of Kamari, Perissa and Monilithos have as common characteristic black sand and deep blue waters.
They are situated on the east side of the island and are located in the touristic areas of the island.

Their areas offer lots of hotels and rooms, taverns, café, bars and beach-bars.

The Red Beach, near Akrotiri, is located in a quitter area but also attracts much people. It is the most famous beach of the island.

 

NAME & DETAILS
Amoudi - Sand/Pebble beach
This beach is located at the bottom of the cliff that stretches up to the city of Ia. If you're ready for the climb down and back, you'll be rewarded by having a fresh fish dinner as the fishing boats unload their cargo.

Kamari - Black sand beach
Kamari Beach is located in the town of Kamari. This black sand beach stretches for 7 km (4 miles) in length along the eastern coast of the island. Beach bars, fish taverns, and a variety of water sports are available along the length of the beach.

Monolithos -  Black sand beach
Monolithos is less crowded than the others on Santorini. It's great for families if the wind isn't blowing.

Perissa -  Black sand beach
Perissa beach is a very popular beach with fine black sand, an array of water sports, beach bars, and tavernas. Windsurfers will enjoy a good offshore breeze. The town of Perissa is a classic beach resort with plenty of hotel accommodation.

Red Beach (Kokkini) -  Read sand beach
This beach of red sand and rock is derived from the red lava rock on the cliff nearby. More people come to see the colored sand than to relax. To find the beach continue down the road from Ancient Akrotiri.
